In 2024, KOJO aimed to innovate AFL’s sports presentation at the Inaugural Gather Round Thursday night match at Adelaide Oval by enhancing the pre-match team rivalry. KOJO achieved this by introducing a captivating Mixed Reality narrative and experience creating an innovative moment fans can get behind live and at home via broadcast.

The goal of the creative was to depict the team captains as gigantic titans in the stadium. The experience sees the captains built into the stadium as liquid metal statues. The Titans reveal each other and face off in an intense epic clash that brings the stadium to life.

The primary creative hurdle for the experience lay in delivering dual encounters within a single playback. The stadium component required an electrifying spectacle to thrill and engage fans, achieved through a dynamic combination of intense light shows, pyrotechnics, a 360-degree LED experience, and the MXR sequence displayed on the big screen. Simultaneously, the broadcast had to convey the same narrative, capturing fans' on-site energy and excitement, ensuring a seamless translation of enthusiasm to viewers tuning in remotely.

Jack's role as a director on the project was to concept, build, and connect the right talent to implement the experience onsite. This involved working with key stakeholders, broadcast networks, pyro technicians, animators, KOJO’s unreal engine team, and tech vendors to bring the vision to life.
